About

Eric Inman Daum established his practice in 2017. He has more than 40 years of experience in traditional residential design and historic preservation working for firms in Philadelphia, New York, and Cambridge, and as partner and principal for a firm in Amesbury. Eric’s passion for Classical Architecture and the work of the early Modernists has informed his design approach to a host of projects.
 
He is a Registered Architect in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and the States of New York, and Rhode Island.  He received his Master of Architecture from the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University and a Bachelor’s Degree from Columbia University in History and Urban Studies.   Eric was awarded a 2019 Bulfinch Award and a 2020 Tucker Design award for a Greek Revival private chapel on an estate south of Boston. He also received a 2022 Bulfinch Award for Stewardship for his continued support of the New England Chapter of the Institute of Classical Architecture and Art.

 He currently sits on the Board of the New England Chapter of the Institute of Classical Architecture and Art having served as President of the chapter from 2005 through 2009.  He was elected as a Fellow of the Institute of Classical Architecture and Art in New York in November of 2018.  In addition, he has taught design at the Boston Architectural College and has lectured at Build Boston, The Traditional Building Conference, and at the Institute of Classical Architecture and Classical America in New York.  Eric has also written articles on the design process for Traditional Building Magazine and Qualified Remodeler.  He appeared on Channel 5's Chronicle Magazine in 2006 as an advocate for the city’s rich architectural heritage and served as a juror for the nationally prestigious Palladio Awards in 2016, and 2020 through 2022.     

Previously, Eric was a Partner in Merrimack Design Architecs and Design Director at The Classic Group in Lexington.  During his apprenticeships, Eric also worked in the offices of Graham Gund Architects in Cambridge, Ferguson, Murray and Shamamian Architects and Kohn Pedersen Fox in New York, and for noted American Classicist John Blatteau Associates in Philadelphia.

Eric Daum was founding President of the New England Chapter of the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art and continues to sit upon its board. He was elected a Fellow of the ICAA in 2018.  Helives in Andover, Massachusetts where he serves on the Design Review Board  and Historic Preservation Commission.
